About project

Type:  Refurbishment

Value:  £585k (over 3 phases)

Completion:  Ph 1 – 2015, Ph 2 – 2016, Ph 3 – 2018

Cowan & Co have successfully completed three phases of external fabric repairs to St Margaret’s C of E Academy in Liverpool. Funding for both phases was secured from the Education & Skills Funding Agency following a successful Condition Improvement Fund bid prepared by Cowan & Co in 2014 & 2015.

The existing single glazed windows and masonry/concrete walls have been transformed through the installation of new rainscreen cladding and double glazed windows. The newly refurbished facade compliments the entrance lobby extension which was also designed by Cowan & Co and completed in 2008. Signage has also been incorporated within the refurbishment works which aids in creating a statement building entrance.

The refurbishment works have greatly improved the thermal efficiency of the school building and have revitalised the external appearance of the main school entrance by creating a modern and welcoming entrance area.
