About project

Type:  New Build & Refurbishment

Value:  £440k

Completion:  2016

Cowan & Co have worked with St Michael’s C of E High School on a number of projects, most recently a refurbishment and extension project to provide additional pupil toilet facilities, staff room, offices, entrance lobbies and lift access to the first floor.

Funding for this project was secured by Cowan & Co following a successful Condition Improvement Fund bid to the Education & Skills Funding Agency to address the lack of adequate sanitary provisions at the school and accessibility issues.

The extension aids in rationalising the existing main elevation by providing a new contemporary addition which draws together the various extension and alterations which have been added to the building over the years.

The creation of the new extension and innovative internal adaptations to the existing school building have allowed the school to better utilise the existing floor area, and also provide new and improved facilities for both pupils and staff.
